Telangiectasia (Thread Veins)

Telangiectasia are tiny dilated blood vessels Common the face particularly around the nose, cheeks and chin.

Common causes include hereditary factors, age, sun exposure and frequent exposure to hot and cold temperatures, wind exposure, hormonal shifts, alcohol consumption, spicy foods, smoking. Physical pressure such as sneezing, severe vomiting.

Removal of vascular blemishes

The appearance should be greatly reduced, but may not be completely removed. 

After treatment, a scab will appear. In the case of thread veins this maybe grainy sand like scabs. The area will initially look worse before it looks better. Do not pick or remove any scabs that form. We want these to remain as long as possible to protect the new skin underneath and prevent scarring. Be very careful blowing the nose if you have had treatment in this area. Avoid sun exposure during healing to prevent pigmentation.

Spider nevi – A particular type of telangiectasia that have a central red dot with radiating thread veins.
